Within the past few weeks I wasn't able to expand my recycling campaign into my school. However, I have been very successful with the outcome within my neighborhood. I hope to gradually recycle all of the cans that I have been able to collect within the next few weeks considering the large amount of cans that I have been able to collect. I plan to complete recycling the cans in time for the Exhibit Night. In regards to my final product, I hope to have either a video or a visual board in display to show the journey of my project as well as my aims and my inspirations in choosing to raise money for the CARE foundation.

Ideas
In the past few days, I have been considering having an event at school within the next few weeks in which students would be able to bring cans to recycle to support my cause or perhaps an ongoing event where students would have the opportunity to bring in cans to recycle everyday of the next few weeks. However, I would need to speak with Mrs. Martino-Walker to discuss the details of the likelihood of either of those possibilities being carried out within the school.

Recycling for CARE
Lately, I have began collecting cans around my neighborhood that I would recycle in order to receive the funds that I would need in order to donate to the CARE foundation. I thought this would be a very innovative method in raising donations considering the issues that people face with money now-a-days. This way people who feel empathetic to the cause can donate without having to lose any money. This would be an opportunity to turn something people view as useless into basic necessities for numerous deprived families. Aside from the fact that this would provide money that I would be able to donate, recycling these cans would also prove to be beneficial to the environment as well.

Progress...
I have recently started working on a video. I have created a basic outline for the layout of the video. This video will assist in raising the awareness of the current struggles within the Horn of Africa. It would also encourage others to consider donating to the Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere, Inc (CARE). This is an organization that has caught my attention and that I have decided on raising money for. This organization has been focused in providing a fight against the ongoing famine in the Horn of Africa and as their motto states "Defending dignity. Fighting Poverty". This video as well the money I aim to raise would serve the area of interaction of community and service.

Somalia
I have recently decided that I want to raise money that I would send to Somalia. Currently in Somalia there is an ongoing civil war which has displaced many families and young children of their homes. There is a countless number of people who are unable to obtain basic necessities such as food and water. Since my family is from Somalia, I thought that this would be something that I could relate to and feel passionate about.

Second Thoughts
Lately, I have been reconsidering the whole scrapbook idea. I have spent the past week researching different websites and blogs on how to create a scrapbook. This made me realize that this idea wasn't as great as I initially believed it to be. I realized that creating a scrapbook wouldn't allow me to gain much from this experience. I wanted to create a project that I would be able to learn from and collect as a valuable memory in the future. I also wanted make a project that I wouldn't toss away or not look back on. I realized that I didn't want to create a project but that I wanted to create a memorable experience in which I would be able to look back on that would not only benefit me but others in my community. So, this led me to a period of debating whether I would change my project yet AGAIN or follow through with something that I wouldn't be fully invested in completing. With further thought I decided that I would change my project for the final time and that I would raise money for a charity. This would be beneficial to myself and to others in my community. It would additionally be a project that I could look back on and would allow me to make a difference in my society even if it would be at a small scale.

Introductions...
I have currently began my experimental process to my MYP Personal Project. I plan on documenting all of the steps that I undergo through this process. I have currently been brain-storming so many ideas. Initially, I wanted to shadow and interview several doctors with different positions and create a documentary with some major overarching theme or something like that. But then I began to consider the time restraints with only having a 4-5 month period to complete this along with all of my usual daily responsibilities. Including the fact that I would have to complete this individually, I realized that this would be some-what challenging to complete with the time frame given and that I wouldn't be able to follow through with this idea. Following this setback, I began to consider other options. After deciding that I wanted to complete something personal that would display me as a unique individual, I have chosen to create a ... scrapbook!
